Dr. Djaladat is a urologic surgeon at Keck Medicine of USC, who specializes in bladder, prostate, kidney, testis and penile cancer treatment.

Here’s what you won’t find on his resume.

Being a doctor was always his dream.

“As a teenager, I dreamed of becoming a cardiac surgeon. I knew I wanted to be a doctor, from an early age. I was gradually attracted to the field of surgery. I believed that surgery was the most efficient way to help others. My mom was an elementary school teacher, and I attended school with her, even before officially starting first grade. She was instrumental in structuring a lot of things in my mind, including my love to help others!”

He’s busy at work and at home.

”When I’m not working, I’m hanging out with my beautiful wife and son. My son is keeping me pretty busy, with all the activities we are doing together, and I enjoy every moment.”

Nostalgia ties him to his favorite travel destination.

“My favorite travel destination is the northern part of Iran. It’s just amazing. It’s super green, and the beaches are lovely. I vividly remember all the good memories and moments we had there with family and friends. If I’m confined to just America, I have a love for Hawaii. Who doesn’t?”

This is the secret to his success.

“The best piece of advice I ever received was to treat patients not just the disease!”

Seeing you smile is the best part of his job.

“Every day I’m inspired to be the best physician I can be, because I get to touch the lives of my patients who are fighting cancer, and I get to inspire students at all levels through teaching. The most rewarding part of it all is when I get to see my patients smile!”

He’s at the forefront of cutting-edge research.

“I’m very active in clinical and translational studies. One of the projects that I’m quite excited about is the first randomized trial using biologic mesh to prevent hernias after cystectomy and ileal conduit.”

Keck Medicine is his home.

“I’m quite passionate about working in teams, which is a must, in an academic medical center. We are committed to research that’s conducted both at USC Urology and the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. What sets the treatment at Keck Medicine apart from other institutions is the excellence and professionalism at all levels. We provide high-quality care, in a great atmosphere, with nice and experienced partners and staff — from the physician assistants to the nurses and beyond.”
