Armand H. Dorian, MD, MMM, was named CEO of USC Verdugo Hills Hospital (USC-VHH) after serving as interim CEO. He brings nearly two decades of medical experience as an board-certified emergency physician and valued leader to advance the hospital’s mission of providing personalized, high-quality health care to the Verdugo Hills neighborhood and its surrounding communities.
As CEO, Dorian is implementing programs that improve patient care, provider wellness and physician engagement.
Dorian joined the USC-VHH executive team in July 2018 as chief medical officer. Previously, he served as director and vice chair of the hospital’s emergency department.
He is a clinical professor of emergency medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, plus former chair and current member of the Caduceus Society, a group of philanthropic medical staff at USC-VHH who raise funds for medical equipment, facility improvements and the medical staff endowment fund. He also serves as the president of the hospital’s governing board and a member of both the USC-VHH foundation board and community advisory board.
Dorian is a compassionate physician and executive who inspires, motivates and leads by instilling a culture of integrity, collegiality, accountability and empathy. His passion and commitment to creating an environment for success allows his team to be creative and innovative in how they care for patients and each other. He embraces his role as CEO of a community hospital by providing up to date health education through collaborations with local groups and public health organizations.
Dorian received his medical degree from the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii and completed his emergency medicine residency at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center. He received a Master of Medical Management degree at the USC Marshall School of Business.
Dorian and his wife have three children, whom he regards as his biggest achievements.
