A lifelong love of science paved the way to her career in medicine.
“I was inspired to become a doctor because of the opportunity to interact with patients and what I would describe as the intrigue of the science. My specialty, oncology, is rooted in research and constant innovation. Science and helping patients are at the core of what we do as oncologists, and both continue to be a source of inspiration.”
She enjoys spending time with her family.
“Spending quality time with my family and friends is very important to me. I also enjoy hiking and being by the water, both of which help me stay balanced and recharge. As residents of Southern California, I think we’re very fortunate to have a lot of places we can go to unwind and sightsee.”
Walking the path with her patients is deeply rewarding.
“One of the most rewarding parts of my work is being involved with a patient’s journey during one of the most critical periods of their life. It’s a privilege that someone lets you into their life, and into the lives of their loved ones, when they’re feeling vulnerable and uncertain about the future. But walking that path together is deeply rewarding. Being a part of my patient’s experience is an honor.”
Helping her patients find comfort is integral to her philosophy of care.
“It’s my goal to offer my patients support and guidance throughout their journey. I want to give my patients a sense of comfort by listening to them, being knowledgeable about their condition and helping them understand all their treatment options.
“As an oncologist, I want to be as comprehensive as possible in my approach to care. It’s not only important to focus on the treatment plan but also to understand each patient as a whole person. Knowing who they are, learning about their work and hobbies, interacting with their family helps to ensure that we provide the best possible treatment and care.”
She believes in improving patient care through research.
“Being involved in cancer research that can impact and benefit how we treat our patients today and in the future is one of my goals. By leveraging the endeavors of previous scientists and the contributions of previous patients, we can improve our current and future standards of care.”
