Hip Impingement
Hip impingement is a condition where the bones of the hip are abnormally shaped. This ball-and-socket joint should glide smoothly, but if something impinges on that smooth motion, they rub together and cause damage to the joint. Abnormal development, injury and overuse are causes of hip impingement.
What are the signs and symptoms of hip impingement?
- Stiffness and swelling in the hip or thigh area
- Pain in the hip, lower back or thigh that occurs during activity and rest
