Shawn Sheffield, MBA, MHSA, serves as chief strategy officer of Keck Medicine of USC and is responsible for the health system’s clinical strategies and expansion efforts. Sheffield leads clinical growth, health system marketing and communications, and business development. She also oversees health care mergers and acquisitions, including partnerships, capital and venture planning, clinical integration, physician alignment strategies, and expanding patients’ access to Keck Medicine throughout Southern California and Las Vegas.
Prior to joining Keck Medicine in 2012, Sheffield served as chief strategy and business officer and assistant vice chancellor of resource, strategy and planning for University of California, San Diego, Health Sciences. Previously, she held academic leadership positions at the University of California, San Francisco and Johns Hopkins University.
In 2019, Sheffield was named Woman of the Year by the Women in Health Administration of Southern California. She was the Los Angeles chair of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women in 2019-2020 and currently co-chairs the Chief Strategy Officers Network for the Vizient University Health System Consortium. She serves as the executive sponsor for Keck Medicine’s Women Employee Resource Group.
She received both her Master of Business Administration and Master of Health Science Administration degrees from Arizona State University.
