Karen S. Morgan, MD, is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who evaluates and manages patients with cataracts, refractive errors, glaucoma, macular degeneration and other types of retinal disease. She has been providing expert ophthalmic care to families in the city of Pasadena for more than 30 years and is now providing that community connection as a faculty member of the USC Roski Eye Institute.
Dr. Morgan’s research interests focus on dry eye syndrome treatments and their efficacy, macular degeneration, and the slowing of disease progression and early detection and treatment of glaucoma.
She has been named in “The Essential Guide to L.A.’s Best Doctors” by Los Angeles Magazine and earned Best Doctor awards from Pasadena Magazine over multiple years.
Dr. Morgan decided to become a doctor when she was in kindergarten. As a child, she accompanied her father, an internist, on house calls in Bronx, NY. She sat in the kitchen as he examined the patient in another room. She couldn’t understand their conversations, but she recognized how beloved he was and wanted to experience that same bond with patients.
“As President Theodore Roosevelt stated, ‘People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care.’ Building trust is the first step in a strong patient-doctor relationship. Listening to the patient is critical.
Thankfully, with the benefit of excellent training and years of experience, compounded by the generosity of USC's support in providing the latest technology, I can deliver the highest quality care to my patients.”
