David D. Tran, MD, PhD, has dedicated his career as a physician-scientist to finding a cure for brain cancer and other formidable cancers. He specializes in treating patients with tumors of the brain and spinal cord with personalized cancer therapy based on each patient’s unique health, disease profile and genetic makeup.
Dr. Tran’s research interests include novel immunotherapeutic approaches in brain cancer, cancer genomics, cancer stem cells and brain metastasis. His research group works on several technologies to help accelerate discoveries in cancer care, including the development of powerful artificial intelligence engines and first-in-human gene therapy treatment options.
He’s been recognized for research excellence by organizations such as the National Institutes of Health; Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs of the Department of Defense; Society for Neuro-Oncology; World Federation of Neuro-Oncology Societies; Center for Advancing Innovation; Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation; and Elsa U. Pardee Foundation.
In his free time, Dr. Tran is an avid gardener and cook. He enjoys growing decorative trees, orchids and rare succulents, and says some of his best scientific ideas come to him while gardening.
