Oana M. Penciu, MD, is a general cardiologist, providing comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of cardiovascular conditions such as high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, heart rhythm disorders, cardiomyopathies and heart failure. Dr. Penciu is board certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine. She has extensive expertise in cardiovascular imaging and is board certified in echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.
Dr. Penciu values building strong partnerships with her patients that are based on trust, empathy, mutual respect and open communication. She prioritizes patient education and always takes the time to listen to their concerns and preferences. Dr. Penciu empowers her patients to take an active role in their care and make informed decisions about their health.
Her research has focused on heart failure diagnosis and best practices to help patients manage their condition. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Penciu is a clinical assistant professor at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and is a member of professional organizations including the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography.
Dr. Penciu grew up in Romania and completed her training in internal medicine and cardiology in Connecticut before moving to Pasadena. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her husband and two children. She enjoys biking, gardening, reading, cooking and traveling.
