Dr. Conturie and her ultrasound technician came across a fairly subtle finding (a large umbilical vein), and Dr. Conturie was very thoughtful about the fears I had around this. She adjusted the level of her technical explanations to suit my level of interest and understanding, and she was thoughtful about the way she discussed the ambiguity in the field's understanding of the association between umbilical vein diameter and the risk of fetal demise. Over the course of the conversation, my husband and I felt very listened-to and reassured.
